All Blacks midfielder Ma’a Nonu’s anticipated post-World Cup move to Toulon has been confirmed by the French Top 14 club.
Toulon boss Mourad Boudjellal confirmed the signing on Saturday (early Sunday NZT), ending months of speculation the star second five-eighth had signed a two-year deal with the club.
“He’s a great centre and he’s got great looks. At Toulon, we love this,” said Boudjellal.
Boudjellal said former All Blacks captain Tana Umaga‘s strong connection with the club played a part in Nonu’s decision. It was also where Sonny Bill Williams first tried his hand at the 15-man code after walking out on the NRL in 2008.
“It was a wish of ours because Toulon really took off with Tana Umaga,” Boudjellal said.
