A second New Zealand team is being heavily pushed to enter the competition in 2018. They have identified Kieran Foran as their number 1 priority, wanting him to be the face of the potential new franchise as well as offering him Captaincy of the team. They have encouraged Foran to not commit to a contract beyond 2017, which leaves the door for him to sign with the potential New Zealand club if their bid is successful.
“Our aim is to build a very competitive club, which will make New Zealand and all stakeholders of the NRL proud”, bid team spokesman Robert Picone said.
“A proud Kiwi and a great player like Kieran Foran is a player who you can build a club around and help stamp a terrific culture for the future.
